Introduction to Hayloft

Hayloft is the repository for standardized open-source digital twins and promotes tagging facilitated by Project Haystack initiative. It aims to enable all to use, reuse and integrate data easily with a common place the potential of normalised data in smart buildings, and other connected environments.

Hayloft is an application focused on developing a standardized approach for organizing, tagging, and accessing data from various equipment within the built environment. Our goal is to provide a common framework that enables seamless integration and interoperability across different systems, devices, and applications. The buildings space and its management generate an immense amount of data from a wide range of sources such as sensors, meters, controls, and equipment. However, this data is often fragmented, inconsistent, and difficult to interpret due to variations in naming conventions, data models, and protocols. Hayloft, using Project Haystack method of tagging, seeks to address these challenges by defining a common set of data models, tags, and naming conventions that enable easier data integration, analysis, and decision-making.

Through collaborative efforts, developed tagged and extensible data models allows users to describe and organize data from diverse systems and equipment versions. Versioning in the tool and historical comparison options available to the users will enable transparency and ease of utilization and comparison across models for various versions of equipment and protocols supported in building space. Subtyping and easy inheritance allows for tailored models to be created for each building usage of the equipment’s tagged data.Whether you are a developer, system integrator, facility manager, or anyone interested in harnessing the power of tagged data in the building space, we invite you to explore and engage with our community

Join us on this journey as we strive to create an ecosystem where tagging becomes super simple and with integrity-maintained data, this in turn will enable various OEMs in unlocking easy integration options, common data insights, energy efficiency, operational improvements, and enhanced occupant experiences.
